A report entitled Economic Impacts of Maritime Shipping in the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Region was published on July 18, 2018. (The report is available at www.marinedelivers.com). Martin Associates of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, was retained to prepare this study by a consortium of U.S. and Canadian Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River stakeholders. Study sponsors include: the Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation, The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation, the American Great Lakes Ports Association, the Chamber of Marine Commerce, the Lake Carriers’ Association, and the Shipping Federation of Canada.

Oshawa Port Authority Chairman, Gary Valcour welcomed Captain Dariusz Janiak, Master of the M/V Lake Ontario to Oshawa on April 12, 2018.

The M/V Lake Ontario is the first general cargo vessel into the Port of Oshawa for the 2018 navigation season. The Vessel arrived to offload 18,881 metric tonnes of rebar which was loaded in Turkey. Her next port of call is Duluth.

Oshawa Port Authority Chairman, Gary Valcour and President & CEO, Donna Taylor, welcomed Captain Kumar Abhinay, Master of the M/V Federal Champlain to Oshawa on April 7,2017.

The M/V Federal Champlain is the first general cargo vessel into the Port of Oshawa for the 2017 navigation season. The vessel arrived to offload 17,815 metric tonnes of steel bars which were loaded in Turkey. Her next port of call is Hamilton.

The port was delighted to welcome members of the Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce to its first Port Day, an opportunity for the local business community to get a first hand glimpse of the inner workings of our national-deep sea port.

Oshawa – Imagine moving a piece of cargo that weighs almost as much as a blue whale. No problem for the Port of Oshawa’s rail spur. It’s allowing the port to break into the niche project cargo market by handling cargo of all shapes and sizes, including a mammoth motor compressor arriving earlier this month from a company in the Kawartha Lakes.
